I am excited to add original artwork to my Etsy shop today!
This is the first time I am offering originals for sale in Moongirl Art Shop! These new art pieces will be in the shop at noon EST.
Spring is all about rebirth, renewal, and personal growth so much of my art created for March will be along this theme. You will see a lot of rabbits as they are the fertility symbol of the goddess Ostara, which is also celebrated today, which for some, is Easter, on April 1st.
A little about these three new pieces…
I am pretty excited that March 31st will be another blue moon and you will see a fair amount of moons, mostly blue, just like in Snowdrop and the Moon pictured above, in my art this month!
Snowdrop and the Moon is an 8.5″ x 11″ watercolour on the most beautiful 100% cotton Arches paper I have ever had the pleasure of painting on! In fact, all of my watercolour pieces shown here are on this paper!
Snowdrops are one of the first flowers to appear as we come into the spring season so I only saw if fitting to include them with this blue moon and the hare. I enjoyed the challenge of drawing these flowers in white on the hare’s body and then changing to black as they moved beyond his body. I really like the effect and will most likely do something similar again!
Blue Moon Hare is a mini 4.5″ x 6″ painting. I loved painting this sweet little piece! There is something about creating tiny things that seems so precious.
If you are a Watership Down fan you may recognize this black creature as the Rabit of Inlé or El-Ahrairah. He is the rabbits’ version of the Grim Reaper in that he appears to rabbits that are ready to make their journey to the other side, to their new life. So fitting for rebirth and this time of year, is it not?
Blue Moon Hare is sized 4.5″ x 6″ but could easily be placed into a 4×6 inch mat for an 8×10 or larger frame. I think it would look lovely in a square mat with a rectangular frame myself! Square mats are so eye-catching!
The Journey is another piece symbolizing renewal. The white rabbit, or spirit rabbit, is looking back upon its life before joining El-Ahrairah to the afterlife.
This piece is also 8.5″ x 11″ but could easily be fit into an 8×10 mat for framing in an 11×14 frame or larger for more effect.
More to come!
As the month progresses I will be adding more pieces to Moongirl Art Shop as I complete them until March 31st. There are also prints available in the shop from previous artworks but they will only be there for a limited time! I will not be having prints in the shop in the near future so if there was anything you had your eye on I’d hate for you to miss it!
I hope you are all having a wonderful March! Keep an eye out for that blue moon on March 31st. I am hope for clear skies!

LOVE your rabbits! So sleek—-not the usual ‘cutesy bunnies’ you see this time of year. 🙂
Thanks, Robin! I used to draw cute bunnies as a kid but I’m really drawn to the wise looking hares these days. 🙂
Hi Moongirl,
I’m really loving exploring your art and blog. Just found it this morning. I love the moon too! And yoga. And bunnies.
You make wonderful art!
Good thoughts, Lindy
Hi Lindy! OH how wonderful! Thank you so much for your kind words, Lindy! This is so wonderful to hear. And isn’t the moon just the best? Bunnies, too! xx
