img_1034The summer zoomed by including a trip out of province. I had brought a bag of art supplies but we were so very busy that it remained untouched and when we returned from out trip I was exhausted and just needed time to reflect on our trip and kind of reset things. By end of August I welcomed the opening of the  Close to Home workshop. I looked forward to painting something that didn’t rely on my imagination for once. As much as I love painting from my imagination there was something so wonderful about painting what I saw in front of me and it gave my brain a break that it still needed. I had a great time learning some tips and tricks for painting landscapes. I wanted to learn how to paint a landscape where I could show an impression and not a very detailed likeness. I wanted to be able to paint something rather quickly and still be able to identify the location. It was so very fun!!
img_1054A few weeks later my mother came for a lovely visit and between the sightseeing-of-things-seen-before-but-always-nice-to-revisit I managed to fit in a couple of drawings for Inktober. I started to stress when I was getting behind with the ink drawings but decided to let it go because art should be fun, not stressful–at least for me. 🙂 I also ordered a Pentel Brush Pen after reading all of the raves and let me tell you–love it! Love! You should probably get one too. 😉 I’m also digging this natural kraft style drawing paper. It seems less intimidating that a stark white blank sheet. img_1065I have also been enjoying this beautiful season filled with colour! Oh how I love Fall! The leaves are so lovely and the breeze, that fresh breeze, is so invigorating! A good friend of mine hosts a Nature Lab where every day she sends members ideas on ways to connect with nature. I was inspired to draw on some leaves I had found while out for a walk with my boys. So fun!! If you wanted to try something similar I would highly recommend a Posca Pen. They are the best paint pens and will write on anything!img_1339I will also be a part of a new group artist auction site on Facebook! There will be ten artists each auctioning pieces once a month beginning the end of November. I will post more details soon! I don’t think I ever mentioned that the Artist Gallery Nouveau decided to close their doors. I needed the break so it was good timing but I think this is a sign that it’s time to start creating anew.

Happy creating!
