I’ve decided to post on Sundays to show the work I’ve done from the week prior. It helps me to stay off the computer and creating more often.

Faces 6 & 7:

faces-6&7 For face 8 my acrylic ink pen threw up. So I worked with it instead of against. I’m learning. 😉

face-9I recently picked up an extra-fine tip oil paint Sharpie. I had a few free minutes so I grabbed the rock that I use to keep open the pages of my cookbooks and went to work.

We are all big rock fans in this family. Rocks and minerals abound here. You can find them on the window sills, counters and all over the floor. No lie.

I’ve been wanting to paint on rocks for a long while. It was so fun! Love seeing this rock when I cook! The word Nourish is a reminder to me to take care of not only my family but myself as well.

Face 10 is also part of my Week 3 Documented Life Project. The subject was the colour wheel and the journal prompt was “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way . . . ” by Georgia O’Keeffe.

I decided to use colour as a feeling instead of making the page really colourful. I created a ‘poem’ out of the words on a page from The Secret Life of Bees (love that book!). I chose certain words within the page that could be grouped together into a kind of saying or poem. This was quite a challenge! Then I painted over the rest. I thought tints of blue would work best to create the mood for the words I chose.

The words in the ‘poem’ are:

Fable of the blue-eyed angel showed
he had a white lily for the consolation prize.
I walked to the moon through women voices.
I twisted my fingers in circles before
I thought about the footsteps on my heart.

Blue-GirlThis piece took me a while to do. It was a real challenge after I had stuck the book page to my journal page. I stared and stared and walk by day after day.

I have to say a huge thank you and send tons of love energy out to all those who sent me kind words either online or messaging or in person after my last post. You pick me up and opened my eyes. You give me love energy. The best kind. I love you.

      Thank you, as always, Denise. I like your descriptions of my work. It helps me to step away and look at them in a new light. And yes, they are somewhat whimsical and melancholic and I think I like that. 🙂 I do believe I am beginning to find my style – or am becoming more aware of it as I keep moving along this path. 🙂
