I’ve been busy these last weeks but have managed to fit in some creating between beaches, nature trails, and just mowing the lawn (because that’s super fun!).
We recently went away for the weekend and I brought my watercolours with me in case I felt inspired and got a bit of quiet time. The ocean is always beautiful and I decided to paint whatever came to mind. I didn’t want to be too uptight and just enjoy the process. Besides, I had a little creative prompt from Danielle whose techniques have taught me a bunch about watercolour and I love her work. Flowers and water ended up on my page.
And a mermaid.
I wanted to make something that I could start and finish in just a bit of time, just to keep the creating going while on vacation. It was fun to just paint and not worry about how it turned out. I am going to do more mermaids because now I just cannot get them out of my head.
My boys and I have been participating in a nature workshop for the past few weeks and it’s been a lot fun! (The link is to my family blog and what we made) Along the way we have been inspired to draw insects and feathers. It has really gotten my boys into drawing again and that warms my heart so much! I never like to push art on them, it should come naturally. When we are all sitting around the table creating together there is a quiet that fills the room, a busy and beautiful quiet. It’s wonderful!
I’m also falling in love with feathers. I’ve been wanting to draw or paint them for a while and that may be because they keep showing up in my IG feed and other art blogs. I really love this feather and am certainly going to do more. Yessiree!
I have also signed up for another workshop by Danielle Donaldson. Eesh, I gotta tell you I do love her style! This time she is using acrylics and watercolour together. I’ve only done the first bit so far but am loving it – and as you can see I have made it my background too! I’ll keep you posted on this one… 😉
I am also thinking of creating a shop to sell some prints and other paraphernalia. I’ve been mulling it over and I am going to make it my goal for this year! So expect to see more art coming and if you have any that you’d like to see as prints (past or present) please let me know!
Happy creating!
