A few friends of mine use bullet journals and I’ve been intrigued but also intimidated by the idea of starting something that looks like it needs to be really organized. Too much information to sort through and make sense. Too much pressure for me!

Someone recently posted about starting a bullet journal (can’t recall who – guess I read too many blogs!) and so I clicked on the link. Perhaps it was the right time for me to remove all of those post-it notes from off and around my computer as well as all of the ones in my head.

So after much note-taking on how to do this – that’s right, I didn’t want to mess this one up so I needed all the instructions at hand – I went out and purchased a booklet which just happened to be the recommended product to use. That being said, there is not right or wrong way, just make it your own. I am one of those people who likes all the information and possibilities laid out before I begin. Drives me crazy but it’s true. From there I can take what I like and see what works for me and what doesn’t.

I started my task list and realized that I had almost filled the page for the month of January with only a week left in the month! Oh geez.

BUT, it felt good to clear the post-it clutter on my desk and in my head. Especially those in my head  as they get misplaced all of the time.

I am loving the process of making lists as I go along with no need to worry about leaving enough space for certain things because there is an index you create to list pages of information as you go along. Brilliant. Really perfect for me. Doing it as I go along. Super awesome indeed!

One of the tasks I noted was to send a little something to my mother and step-father. I wanted to make a simple painting as a tag where I could write a little note on the back. Totally killing two birds with one stone: making art and getting mail out!

Now I must tend to other tasks on the list like a ton, really big ton, of images that need editing from years gone by! Oh goodee. My favourite thing to do.

But first, I must make my first ever art journal page with the help of  The Documented Life Project. I am a few weeks behind on this one and just recently received the journal in the mail.

I’m terrified!

Happy creating!!

Yes! I do overthink but I find I am not intuitive enough yet when painting. It’s lack of experience so I just have to see this as a journey that I can look back on and see how far I’ve come! 🙂

  1. Beautiful blog! I know what you mean when you say you want to do your thing without the parameters of a business. It’s freeing, and somehow much more meaningful. I’ll be following you by email. Thanks for being a part of GYB so I could find you.
