Better late than never, right?? 😉 I joined the Documented Life Project a little late and so my journal arrived a few weeks later.
Then I was terrified to begin as this is unchartered territory for me and I’ve seen some amazing journaling out there – Alex, is my inspiration for this as I followed her creations last year for DLP. Thank you, Alex!!!
The first week’s challenge/project was to lay down paper to get rid of the frightful blank page. I really enjoyed doing this and then added a bit of paint with a dry brush and brayer.
I am completely anal when it comes to new things so every layer took time. I am sure that there were more steps between these two images that I just forgot to take record of.
The prompt was to be your own goal keeper. Instead of adding in written or stamped text for my goals I made flowers as symbols of growth and prosperity. I also reworked areas from time to time to balance out colour and space.
From here I added the hearts to symbolize my passion for creating.
I wasn’t going to add any text but in the end I did but made it small as a detail. “Follow your heart”. Nothing new to any of us but something I need to be reminded of in this new adventure of mine.
Wow! So colourful! I had a great time getting into the art journaling and for most of this spread I used my fingers to work the paint and somehow I ended up with a moon in there too! It felt so good to be such a physical part of the process.
I am so glad that I decided to take this challenge. I may be weeks behind but from here on in I don’t think it will be as intimidating for me as that first project (I hope!).
Happy creating!

Oh, this is absolutely beautiful! You did an amazing job with your first Documented Life Project spread. And you were worried! 😉
I love that you let loose and used your fingers and just played with your art. It shows! There’s a beautiful flowing quality about it I really love. Great job! I’m really looking forward to seeing your future contributions to this project.
It took me FOREVER but I did it and somehow that should make the next easier. I’ve put down the gesso so far – haha! 🙂 Thank you for your kind words! xx
