I finally finished another journal page for Documented Life Project (see image link on sidebar) and decided to make it one of my 29 faces (sidebar link again) since it took me much of last night and this morning to finish.
Week 2 was about using gesso as a way to seal the page. Iβve used gesso before a bit so I love the way it lets me paint on an otherwise porous surface. Once the gesso was dry I added toilet paper with some matte medium. It was a bit messy but I was excited to give this texture a try after I saw Elizabeth use it. Oh my goodness, I love her art so so much! Β I have no idea how she did it but I know how I can find out! π I added a bit of watercolour wash for a light colour base then used acrylic paint for everything else.
All in all, I am happy with the end result. Something totally different for me. I am just loving my new Stabilo All Pencil. I used it forΒ the outlines and then went over them with a brush. Love love love what it does!
The inspirational quote was “The beginning is always today” by Mary Shelley and it found itβs own spot next to my meditating lady, as a reminder on her wall. π
Today I have two faces to do to catch up, then on to the 3rd week DLP project. I think a book store/tea/treat will be a good refresher break today. π
Happy creating!

Thank you, Denise. It was quite an enjoyable experience.
Well this is going to be a mutual love-fest then, because your piece made my jaw drop. π I love, love, love the serenity of this page! It’s so unique and lovely… and all that texture underneath is making my artsy heart happy. You’ve inspired me to pull out my Stabilo pen a little more often! I love the effect you were able to get with it.
Have a great week!
You inspired me and now I inspired you! wow, I am so touched. π xo
