Wow, it’s been a while since I have posted here! I have been busy with my homeschooling life and enjoying the spring weather we are finally having here in Eastern Canada. We have been busy watching the birds, mushrooms and all sorts of moss and lichen emerge!
I have from time to time been able to sit down and work on a tarot card that I am creating as part of a fundraiser for cancer. Once I have some official information to give I will post it here. 🙂
I am making the 6 of Wands card which is about triumph over adversity. I have decided to create a girl with butterfly wings and although I have since seen the butterfly used for this card before I have still decided to stick with it because it is so fitting. I am also adding nasturtium, red ones, as they are a symbol of strength and victory. Keeping in mind that although this card has to do with success over challenges it also denotes the possibility of things going sour again so I have decided to make the background a bit bland in design and colour – a lot of greys.
Over the past few weeks I have been working and reworking the girl along with playing with the watercolour techniques for her and the flowers. Here are some of my practice pieces:
Flowers are a new thing for me…

So many steps and preparation trying to find what works best.
Early last week I got a lovely surprise when a friend of mine received my new watercolours and pencil in the mail at her place. Yay! Long story but I had to order it from the U.S. and she had family that I was able to ship it to and then they shipped it to her. So happy for awesome friends to love so well (and their relations)!
And then on Sunday, the book I have been waiting to come back into stock at our local Chapters finally did on Mother’s Day. Yay again! This will be my creating where my brain needs a drawing break but still wants to do something. Love it.
This last girl was painted with my new watercolours and OH MY GOODNESS I have to say they are so fabulous! The colours are so rich and I don’t need much pigment on my brush at all. The colours don’t have a gritty appearance when dry on the paper and they blend so well. Absolutely worth the extra cost to order from the States! I’ll say it again: Absolutely worth it. And the .3mm mechanical pencil is amazing. I think I may have to order a .5 from them in the future. Such great investments!
More work on flowers and wings…
I am excited to say I am ready to paint the final piece. Yay!
I will be sure to post the final painting when done and any information I can share about the project. There are some amazing artists involved and I myself cannot wait to have a deck of my own. 🙂
Happy creating!
Moongirl xx
Those are THE most beautiful and deliciously delicate illustrations! And those watercolours are now on my ever-growing wish list! A wonderful painting for a worthy cause – hugs from SHroo:)x
They are super awesome watercolors. 😉 And thank you so much for such soul warming words! xx
What a beautiful tarot card this will be! I will have to keep an eye on more info when you give it.
And yay for the colouring book! Enjoy 🙂
Thank you, Alex! xx I too, am looking forward to finishing the card and seeing it in it’s finality! Yet another deck to add to my collection. 😉
Wow!! What beautiful work, your talent continues to amaze me. Just lovely.
And that Enchanted Forest book, I might have to look into that. Looks cool!
There really is nothing like colouring to relax oneself. 🙂 You keep my uplifted with your encouraging words. Thank you ever so much, Kim!
each of your pieces is a joy to see!
love all your wings.
Danielle is such a wonderful teacher!
I agree, i am enjoying these paints too. My favorite are Daniel Smith watercolors, but these are so easy to open and use.
your flowers are charming too.
Tammie! Your watercolour work always amazes me so your comments mean a lot, thank you! 🙂 Yes, I am so inspired by Danielle’s watercolour creations. Gee, now I am going to have to check out these Daniel Smith watercolours for when I am brave enough to use tubes!

Tammy! Hello! I was just thinking of you the other day – love when that happens! Hope you are able to get back on track soon. I so love your abstracts. Truth be told, I have not been posting nor ‘arting’ as much as I’d like to myself. 😉
Thank you for stopping over and writing to me … your words mean so much to me!! It’s always so interesting to have someone else’s perspective. I hope to get back to work on the abstracts. 🙂
I find the support of other artists to be very uplifting and healing. You do the same for me. 🙂
