I managed to eek in a bit of time tonight to paint for Day 7 of Art Every Day Month. It feels good to end the day knowing I made it a priority to create. Whew!

I must continually remind myself not to feel guilty for my time – it’s much needed and important. So I popped on my headphones, listened to some favourite tunes and had a great time! This piece is from a sketch I made a few days ago. At first I was going to leave it and move on but decided to redraw it onto watercolour paper and add colour. Glad I did.

Happy Creating!

  1. this is so sweet. I remember this exact feeling when I was young. Now, with my gorgeous umbrella (hey, I live in BC, Canada, it rains a lot!) I’d be devastated if the wind ate it! Love the hair especially. Visiting from AEDM.

I know what you mean, Jennifer! Out here in Nova Scotia (hello fellow Canadian!!) there’s rarely a point to getting out the umbrella because the wind will just do it in. But, I do have an umbrella that I love – it’s one of the clear ones and it has pink and brown polka dots on it. Fun!

I am still learning to add colour to my work which is why this one started as a sketch only. In the redraw I did change some things, partly because of where I started on the page so I had to make her a bit shorter so she would fit! Oops 😉
