Welcome to Grow Your Blog! I am participating in this event to bring more readers to my blog and as a way for me to find other creative sites. I love adding more artist sites to my blog list!!
I began my blog in November of 2013. I wanted a way to make myself feel accountable for creating as life is so busy I find it a challenge to fit it in. In the short time I have had this blog I have managed to create more consistently than I have in the past decade or more since I graduated from art college!
I live in Eastern Canada, I homeschool my two boys and I used to photograph weddings and families (I have a Fine Arts Degree and a Photography Degree from way back in the film days!!!). These are a couple of my favourites – my business used to be Ladyshark Photographic (image taken from my old blogsite).
For years I only had a photography website. As of about this time last year I quit ‘the biz’ and now only help some of my friends with photographing weddings as the second shooter. It’s a lot less stress and no editing and I love that, plus I still get to shoot.
That said, you will find me from time to time posting photographs, sometimes shot with a film camera like these below. 🙂
As of later today, January 25, 2015, I am going to my second last shift at my part-time job in a photography specialty shop. It’s a great place to work but even working part-time, home educating my children and shooting on the side has been too much, with squeezing in creating art too. So I made the big decision to stop working part-time and focus on my boys and my art and the occasional wedding. My husband works from home and is a trained Graphic Designer and Web Designer/teacher. Very handy for me!!! 😉
I am a pencil artist for the most part but in the past couple of years I have ventured into colour and found that I love acrylics and watercolour. I have recently created a piece for a local group artist show entitled Permafrost. It feels like a great way to start off a year of being an artist for real!
I took Carla Sonheim’s Year of the Fairy Tale course last year and it opened up my eyes to so many wonderful techniques. Carla is an amazingly awesome artist!
I have just recently begun art journaling. When I say recently I mean today. Haha! So true and so far I am a bit terrified but enjoying the process. I will have something to show soon. I am following along with The Documented Life Project where there are so many amazing art journal artists. I love it!
You can go to the ‘About Moongirl’ (that’s me!) link at the top of the page for more information about myself and how I got to where I am today.
Did I mention that I knit?
Thank you for visiting!
I have a plethora (I love to use that word!) of ways you can connect with me. At the top right of the sidebar you will see a group of fun icons to choose from. Click one to follow along, or more if you like! 🙂
You can also add your email address below the icons and get an email notice when I post! Thank you so much!
Happy creating!
