A good friend of mine, someone who is always supporting me in my endeavors (a sign of a true friend), someone who listens when you talk (another sign), and is genuinely interested in my art (yet another blessed sign!), posted the video below to her FB page and tagged me, not to say that I wasn’t good or wasn’t measuring up, but as a reminder to not give up, to keep working on it.
I think that’s the biggest challenge for me: to keep going.
Yesterday was my LAST SHIFT AT WORK! My manager stayed a little later so that when I arrived he could say his farewell and present me with a card from everyone and some tea gifts – they do know me! I was so touched. I said I should quit all of the time! Haha!
I came home and my boys had put together some of their savings along with my husband to buy me a Minecraft account. This is a huge giving for them. They have the biggest hearts and I am so blessed by the Universe for where I am and who I have in my life.
I say thank you, to all of those who have supported me with kind words, encouraging words, kept me wanting to keep keepin’ on (you know? like just keep on truckin’).
Thank you family. You are the bestest, my boys, all three of you. 😉
This is already an amazing year and it’s just the beginning.
I am so excited for today that I barely slept last night. I just couldn’t.
Today I get to draw and tomorrow I do too. Because I don’t work tomorrow. I get to live my dream now and I get to do that with my family by my side.
Here’s the video. Thanks, Dawn. xx
Love the video..love hearing Ira Glass….and how nice that you are able now to make art every day because that is what you need to do. Your excitement reminds me of the first day of my 100 day’s of painting faces. I was so excited to get started and so happy to make that choice of intentionally painting every day for 100 days. I did it and the first day I painted three faces instead of just one. I am on my second challenge of 100 days of painting abstracts and having a small break for the GYB party.. and a quick trip to visit my kids. But I’m also excited to get back and finish up my second challenge. Never quit.. and I have to attest to the value of creating a large body of work .. the value is that in the making your work will evolve and in making lots you sometimes have amazing things happen till you get to that place as Ira says in the video where you really love your work .. Good luck with your new more blessed days being a creative!!!
Wow! I am so inspired by your words! I have tried to sketch every day but for some reason have not been too successful. But, I keep trying! I have signed up for 29 faces starting tomorrow so that is good motivation to get moving. I have many ideas it just takes me some time to wind down and then sit down and do it! haha! Okay, no excuses and never quit. Yes, a large body of work is what will come and this year is the journey of going from where I am where I feel like something is missing in my work to loving it. 🙂
What a great message in that video. I needed to hear that too. I don’t want to quit, ever, but sometimes we only can think of quitting.
You are at the edge of a new start, so exciting!
I will be revisiting this video again and again!
Love you! I am beyond excited about this new chapter in your journey! xo
Thank you, Dawn! 🙂 🙂 It’s friends like you that keep me afloat! I’m so excited and so tired! Haha!
So exciting for you, and so good of you to follow your dreams. With this kind of attitude you’re going to make it!
yaaaaaaay! congrats on the first day of your new life! i’m so excited for you. i think that being at somewhat similar point helps be be extra empathic about where you’re at.
love that vid, have seen and shared it before and am glad to have seen it again. the idea of a volume of work really touched a chord with me a few years back.
i would add to your pile of advice…. is to be vigilant about the Should Monster. leaving work, or getting a new studio set up, or buying a whole heap of supplies…. these can trigger many people’s (including me) guilt-should factor – that you now must prove your time/expenditure. you know what I mean. watch him he’s sneaky 😉
blessings on your new adventure ahead!
Thank you, Autumn! and pointing a finger at the Should Monster is just what I needed. He’s a sneaky bugger and I do need to watch out for him! xx
