These past weeks have been BUSY! I have found some inspiring books, started making bread again (we love home baked bread!), finished preparing my salves that have been solar infusing for weeks (*months*) and found wee pockets of time between homeschooling and other lovely life happenings to create as well. So far this year has been pretty good. ❤
This year has also been a time to let some things go like this turtleneck poncho. It has been on the needles for no joke of about five years. I have come to terms with it in that if I haven’t finished it yet it wasn’t meant to be. I had to admit that even though I love the colour of the yarn it’s not that soft and would drive me crazy around the neck. So it will mostly likely be a sweater for my husband – a non-turtleneck. 😉 I just had to take a picture of how much I had done before unraveling.
After years of having this mandolin – my husband bought it for me pre-kids! – I have decided to try to get back to learning it, even if for only 15 minutes a day!
A friend lent us her loom because Xman has been interested in weaving. He is loving it! Right now this piece will be a bookmark. We just need to buy more thread. I had learned to weave while at art college and doing a few lines for him really took me back. I want to weave again too! 🙂
FINALLY got around to making my healing salve. It doesn’t take long to prepare once the oil has infused but it’s just setting aside the time…
…to pour, cool and write out all of the labels! Now, Yay! They are finished!!! ❤
I recently sat down to work on more faces with Jane Davenport’s book. She has such a different style than mine which keeps my brain working while learning new techniques.

And I made some time to sit down and work on this piece. Gosh darnit I love working in mixed media! I have since finished this piece but until I have put protector on it and given it to its new owner posting the finished piece will have to wait. Hopefully the weather will accommodate me and let me spray it soon and air it out outside. That spray is smelly but I have to spray it because if I paint on varnish it will smudge. The downside of watersoluables, I guess, but they are so worth it!
Happy creating!

LOL I read this as: finished preparing my ‘slaves’……I was wondering who your slaves were! The bread looks yummy! I have Jane’s book too but haven’t had time to get into it. Your girls are lovely!
OH yes, my husband didn’t read it correctly the first time either! :0 Jane’s book is wonderful and I am only through a fraction of it. I like to take my time and enjoy them, really immerse myself. 🙂
you are so talented!! I have watercolors sitting in my studio and have yet opened to try out some different creative path way, you inspire me. I tend to knit knit knit when I have free time!! The salve looks so soothing too.
That’s so funny because my go-to is making art but then I wish I did more knitting! 🙂
