Snow Spirit is special to me because it was created by request from a cousin of mine. We live on separate ends of our county’s coastline – I’m in Halifax and she’s in Vancouver. Her dad is my dad’s brother. I won’t say much more about this piece other than it ended up being a very intuitive piece for me. It took me forever to figure out what to make. It’s the second time I have created a painting for someone where the elements I add of my own accord end up having significance for the person I am creating it for. I love that. I love how Spirit flows.
I began this piece by adding acrylic paint over a base of book paper. Then I added watercolour with salt and pencil and posca pens for detail.
The best part about this piece is how much it meant for me to create it…and how much my cousin loves it…yes…that’s the best part! ❤
